Source Management System
EPA’s Market Operations Branch has been working on a re-architecture project to modernize and improve the usability of the CAMD Business System (CBS). CBS is a web application that enables industry users to perform tasks online, such as registering a plant/unit for a program, assigning designated representatives, transferring allowances, performing annual compliance and opening general accounts. CAMD, EPA Region and State staff currently use the Source Management System (SMS) to perform similar tasks. The updated CBS will consolidate CBS and SMS into one application named the CAMD Business System.

Earlier this summer we provided an opportunity for our stakeholders to test the updated application, and would like to thank those who participated. We received great feedback from this test period that has been incorporated into the application.

Overall, testers liked the new look and feel of the application, the layout and navigation of the screens, and were pleased to be given the opportunity to test and provide feedback. Among the many comments we heard, the top three areas of improvement included:

- Clarifying on-screen messaging

- Report enhancements

- Minor bug fixes

From other feedback we received, we determined that due to stakeholder turnover, it would be beneficial to hold several “Ask CAMD” on-line information sessions throughout the year to answer general questions about Clean Air Markets Division programs and business processes.

Due to the success of alpha testing, we decided not to hold a beta testing period. If you were unable to participate in alpha testing, you will still be able to provide feedback after the updated CBS is released later this year.

The release is currently scheduled for early December 2017. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress. In the near future, we will be providing help documents, system requirements, FAQs and contact information to help with the transition to the updated CBS.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Laurel DeSantis at (202) 343-9191 or desantis.laurel@epa.gov.
